Review: E.L.F Cosmetics
E.L.F stands for eyes lips and face. It is an online cosmetics brand. Majority of their products are £1.50 ($1 for USA), their studio line and mineral products start from £3.50.
At first I wasn’t so sure about ELF, I mean their products can’t be good since it’s so cheap! I then read several reviews on them and discovered that they are not that bad and pretty good for the value.
I finally decided to purchased a few products during the promotion (FREE shipping for £10+). Unfortunately majority of their popular and famous colours/products were already sold out. Eventually I chose five products, these were:
- Studio Powder Brush (flat top one)
- Studio Small Angle brush
- Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF15 in Candlelight
- Natural Radiance Blusher in Innocence
- Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Sun Kiss
I ordered on Friday morning and it arrived the next day. I was totally shocked, I thought I wouldn’t get it till Monday. I was also shocked by the packing. They packaged it into a thick card board box, I thought it would come in one of those envelope with bubbles inside. I must say I was extremely impress with their post and package.
The actual container of the products aren’t too impressive. The plastic package of the bronzer and brusher isn’t too great, it seems very cheap and might break easily. However I did pay only £1.50 for the products and I’m not buying it for the plastic container but for the quality of the actual product.
Studio Powder Brush (flat top one) – this brush is a great brush. It’s extremely soft and picks up a lot of pigments. It also has a little cover to protect it and keep it clean. I used this brush to try out the bronzer and blusher.
Studio Small Angle brush – perfect brush for applying eye liner or line the eyebrows. I apply some black eyeshadow along the lines of the eyes so test it out. I always find it hard to apply a thin line wit pencil and I’m not great with liquid. This brush will work best with a gel eyeliner.
Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF15 in Candlelight – I love this product! This lip gloss is very shiny but isn’t sticky at all. I always find that cheap lip gloss will fade away after a while and get wash away by food and drinks. This one stayed on while I was out and didn’t come off after I ate and drank. It was such a shame that there was only a few colours left but I’ll definitely buy more of this in other colours once they have more stock.
Natural Radiance Blusher in Innocence – I got this in a pinky peach colour. I wasn’t too impressed with this. I put some on my cheeks and didn’t show up at all. Maybe thecolour I got was too light. I’ll give this another try with a deeper colour.

Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Sun Kiss – Great value for money! The colour is amazing, looks like I got a tan but not quiet a tan. Very natural glow. The colour is very rich so don’t need much for the colour to appear.
Overall I think ELF products are great for £1.50-£3.00. The quality of the products are about the same as regular drug store make up. You don’t really get much with it though, the sizes are very small. Their products are a great place to start for anyone that wants to experiment with make up and colours but don’t want to spend too much.
They will be getting more stock by the end of February so I’ll definitely be purchasing more stuff. I want to try out some of the other products including cream eyeshadow, mineral lipstick and the plumping lip glaze.
Picture of me with the E.L.F make up. I used the angle brush to apply my eye liner using a black eye shadow, then used the blusher brush for the blusher and bronzer. Then finally applied the lip gloss. Unfortunately my room was extremely bright so can’t really see the bronzer.
(p.s. I have horrible bags and dark under eye circles as I’ve been sleeping late lately. Didnt bother apply any concealer for this entry.)
Thanks Joanne for letting me plug my blog entries on her Facebook <3

You look really cute! The eyeliner brush is a really good idea lol I always just use my body shop eyeshadow brush for that but it’s kinda a little bit too thick so doesn’t give a very sharp line. I might get the elf eyeliner brush in february too! Do you recommend the bronzer then? Where did you apply it to? Just the cheeks? xoxoTwitter: kyupii

I applied it to the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. The sun kissed colour really is sun kissed, great colour for “I just went in the sun for a few hrs” look.
I want to get a slightly darker matte bronzer for contouring. Might buy the warm tan or matte brown next time so I can use it for contour. I tried contouring with the sun kissed colour this morning and didn’t really work as it’s too pink I think.Twitter: essencious

Great reviews, I’ve been thinking about trying ELF for a long time but I’ve heard mixed reports. Very useful to see real photos of the products, so thanks!Twitter: blossomnu
