Typo Queen
If you read my blog entries regularly you’ll noticed many typing mistakes. I don’t misspell words, I use the wrong word. It’s like my brain is thinking one word and then my hands types another.
I do read through them again to check that I don’t have any mistakes in my entries. However when you read something that you’ve written yourself shortly after you have finished it, you generally don’t notice those mistakes. Your brain is familiar with those sentences so it will read the sentences like how it should be rather than what it really is.
During school & university we were told that we should leave a piece of work for a few days before doing a final proof read. That way our brain would have forgotten the sentences we constructed and we will be able to read the text exactly like it should be.
I hope that made sense to you guys.
Do you find that you need a few days before you’re able to completely proof read your writings? Do you still find silly little mistakes days later?

I think I know what you mean. I misspell words a lot and also I tend to use the wrong words too. Not intentional. It just happen. For example, I use ‘accept’ instead of ‘except’. :p
Now, I am making it a habit to proof read before I click the submit button.

Yeah, sometimes I would randomly reread my posts and would notice these typos. My professors also recommends reading your written works backwards out loud, and I usually do that for school work. I’m too lazy to do that for blog posts though

I have similar problems… especially if I am writing late at night (which is quite often). There have even been times when I’ll mix up homophones or I’ll forget a word (or phrase) all together.
But yeah… leaving your writing alone for a day or so is really helpful in catching mistakes.

Happens to me all the time. That’s why I always let my 2 classmates proof read my works before submitted since we constantly write 3k essays almost every other day.

hiii =)
Yea, that tip does work…but…
in my experience…i tend to procrastinate at the very morning of the due date..so I really have no gap to actually give some time off and come back to it and re-read lol XD
please don’t do what I do =_=;;;

I once saw a graphic that read “typo queen” on it. I thought it was pretty amusing, until I realised that I don’t make very many typos myself.
I hate proofreading my work sometimes. I read over my blog sometimes, and I might notice a little mistake, but usually it’s about a day later, and I stumble upon it by accident. Sometimes a friend reads one of my posts after I post it and notices a typo, too. I think sometimes it’s good to have someone else there to read what you’ve got because they see it “how it’s supposed to be seen”.
I don’t mind reading over my blog, but reading over my academic work is something that really bores me.
We’re not allowed to go 10% under or over the limit, haha. I don’t think it’s a big deal… once I wrote 1000 words over 3000 (the limit) and I wasn’t penalised.
I’m way too lazy to make sushi myself. D: I actually did in high school because I had the time, but not anymore now. I just buy it. I’ll admit, it’s pretty costly. XD

Oooh really? Wow I didn’t know about that. Just yesterday, I was backreading some of my posts and I noticed that I read so fast. Is it because I wrote it and I’m familiar with it? Hehe. And thanks for that fact, I’ll definitely remember it since I write a lot in school^^

I know what you mean. I always make silly mistakes, like writing “weather” instead of “whether” or something.
Proof reading doesn’t even work for em because I already know what it’s going to say, like you said.
That’s definitely true though. Whenever I go over some of my old blogs, I always find typos or spelling mistakes, heh.
I love your layout by the way.
